Pink Belt is an Australian Registered Charity empowering women on a journey of recovery by connecting them with martial arts for healing, health, wellbeing and growth. Donations go towards empowering women in need with a Pink Belt Scholarship, providing them with a year of free martial arts training at her nearest local club. Research shows training in the Traditional Martial Arts is not only an effective therapeutic tool for recovery from violence, but also a powerful weapon in violence prevention.
Each scholarship provides a years’ worth of training, any uniforms or belts needed, two classes per week and all membership fees associated to women who have faced domestic violence or sexual assault and are on the path to recovery. The display of the Pink Belt Project Patch tells potential new students the school is more than just a martial arts gym. It’s a sign the gym provides a training environment where all women are safe, equal and valued.
The $15,200 donation from the Lyone Foundation will aid Pink Belt in funding these scholarships, providing women in need a year of free martial arts training.
