Community First Step
Community First Step is a non-for-profit organization that has been operating in the heart of Fairfield for almost 45 years. The organization is growing and encompasses disability services, children’s services, including before and after school care, and youth and family services, which includes case work and community development.
One program recently introduced is the ‘Homework Club’, encompassing after-school care services in the Fairfield, Carramar, Villawood, Old Guildford and Yennora areas. With low socio-economic areas meaning uneven access to computer and internet learning opportunities in the home—part of what is called the digital divide—our donation of $12,168 helps to subside the costs of resources, data plans, educators and subscriptions to numeracy and literacy skills applications. This program will ensure children receive continuous and ongoing homework support.
