Our funds assist United Way's partnership with the ‘Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL)’, ‘Acacia Ridge’ and the ‘Victorian School Readiness’ programs. Under the DPIL program in 2021, the Imagination Library supported 14,256 children, sending 132,631 books across Australia, representing a 90% increase from the previous year.
By the end of 2022 we sent over 180,000 books to 28,000 children in the calendar year. Under the ‘Acacia Ridge’ initiative, 60 children were supported through our funding. The Acacia Ridge Imagination Library is run by and integrated into the Benevolent Society’s Acacia Ridge Early Years Centre, supporting vulnerable families through a range of programming including Connect 2 Kindy, which works with Imagination Library books to build parents’ capacity to support their child’s school literacy readiness.
Our funds also assisted 6,204 children across Victorian kindergartens with resources to manage the administration and growth of the Victorian School Readiness Founding initiative.
