Based in Newcastle, NSW, Zara's House offers a safe space for refugee women to learn English, share experiences, and get help with settling in Australia. Across the academic year girls and women taking part in the program can take advantage of 90 minutes of tutoring and 60 minutes of exercise/dance/music classes per week, along with access to the internet and printing services.
The Lyone Foundation's donation of $10,000 to Zara's House goes toward the provision of Friday evening tutoring, and the organisation of different social gatherings and events for refugees from diverse backgrounds.
