The Preterm Infants Parents Association Inc. (PIPA) is a charity that offers practical and emotional support to the families of infants born prematurely.
Roughly 1 in 10 babies are born prematurely in Australia (classed as born before 37 weeks gestation). Premature babies can face significant medical challenges and it can be a roller coaster ride for parents as their babies develop.
PIPA’s President Jessica and Treasurer Eileen joined the COS team in Brisbane on Monday the 6th of June for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea – where they were presented with a $15,422 donation from the Lyone Foundation. These funds are used to support three very important projects conducted by PIPA.
- Special Day Gifts – Mother’s and Father’s Day gifts for parents whose babies are in hospital.
- Premmies in the Park and Celebrating Queensland Premmies – Community events to bring families together.
- Needy Parents Fund – Supporting families who are under financial stress travelling to and from hospital to see their pre-term baby.
COS had four special guests join the occasion – children who were born pre-term and are growing up (or have already grown up) supported by the great work PIPA does in the community.
