The Lyone Foundation partners with Anti-Slavery Australia to strengthen legal support for survivors
The Lyone Foundation is partnering with Anti-Slavery Australia to fund a full-time paralegal for 12 months, helping its specialist legal practice respond to more people affected by modern slavery.
The Lyone Foundation is proud to begin a new partnership with Anti-Slavery Australia, providing approximately $107,000 to fund a full-time paralegal within its legal practice for 12 months.
Anti-Slavery Australia, based at the UTS Faculty of Law, provides free and confidential legal and migration services to people who have experienced or are at risk of modern slavery. Its work supports people affected by human trafficking, forced labour, forced marriage and other forms of exploitation.
Meeting growing demand for legal support
Demand for Anti-Slavery Australia’s specialist legal services continues to grow. Many clients face complex and intersecting legal issues, making timely, person-centred assistance essential.
The new paralegal will increase the capacity of the legal practice by supporting solicitors with:
- Client intake and engagement
- Legal and policy research
- Case preparation and documentation
- Case management
- Referrals and coordination with support services
- Supervision of law students
By strengthening this vital support capacity, Anti-Slavery Australia’s legal team will be able to dedicate more time to providing specialist advice and representation.
Helping more survivors access assistance
The partnership is expected to improve responsiveness, help legal matters progress more efficiently and enable a greater number of survivors to receive legal support.
Anti-Slavery Australia has provided free legal assistance to survivors across every Australian state and territory for more than two decades. Its holistic approach helps clients navigate areas including immigration, employment, family and criminal law, citizenship and victims’ compensation.
The Lyone Foundation is proud to support an organisation combining specialist expertise with a deep commitment to dignity, safety and human rights.
This partnership reflects our belief in funding practical initiatives that strengthen organisations and create meaningful, lasting change. We look forward to sharing the impact of the new paralegal role and Anti-Slavery Australia’s important work over the coming year.

A shared commitment to human rights
The partnership also complements COS’s ongoing work to identify and address modern slavery risks within its operations and supply chains. While COS continues to focus on prevention, ethical sourcing and responsible business practices, the Lyone Foundation’s support will help strengthen direct assistance for people affected by exploitation.
Together, these efforts recognise that addressing modern slavery requires both responsible business action and accessible, specialist support for survivors.
