COS We Care

COS We Care is a charity that connects with the homeless community in Adelaide to show that they care about them. They go directly to park lands and hand out sandwiches and coffee aiming to distribute breakfast to all. They serve around 200 homeless people every weekend in the Adelaid City and Northern Suburbs. From a humble start with a few thermoses, they now have two refrigerated vans they use to collect end-of-day items throughout the week, as well as toiletries and clothing. Fresh fruit and vegetables are collected on Fridays, so they remain fresh for the weekend distributions.

The donation from the Lyone Foundation of $7,500 will help with the Student Lunch and Family Dinners for the homeless project. This will include monthly BBQs in Fremont where there are several local communities with needs. The funds will cover monthly breakfasts for the kids and BBQ for the families for around 1 year. This will help approximately 100 families per month. This will provide families experiencing hardship with regular access to nutritious meals while creating opportunities for connection and community support.
