Wings4Kidz is a not-for-profit organisation providing a free flight service for children in regional communities, who have serious or life-threatening illnesses and are required to travel to major city-based hospitals for treatment. Having a child diagnosed with a serious medical condition that may require treatment for months, or several years is traumatising for the entire family, but imagine if it also meant several hours, or days of travel just to access treatment.

These children and their families are significantly disadvantaged by distance and face significant financial, emotional and travel stresses to access the essential treatment services that are not available in regional areas. Wings4Kidz flights make a significant difference for children and their families during the most traumatic and stressful challenges a family can face. They aim to deliver 1,000 flights annually across NSW for children with their team of pilots and aircraft.

Wings4Kidz is there to support children requiring specialist treatment for heart conditions, blood disorders, cancer, congenital disorders, burns treatment or the many other conditions which can only be treated at major hospitals throughout their treatment journey. Long journeys by car for several hours or days, sometimes on a weekly basis are not only stressful for the parents but can also be physically and emotionally detrimental for the children. Replacing the drive with a comfortable flight is safer, less fatiguing, and something the kids might actually look forward to.

The team volunteers their time and skills to provide this service. 100% of the Lyone Foundation $24,600 funds will directly support the flights with no administration or wage costs deducted.
