Big Group Hug

Big Group Hug is a charity that provides essential items free of charge to babies, children, and families experiencing hardship across Victoria. Working through a trusted referral network of midwives, social workers, and case workers, the organisation supports families affected by poverty, family violence, homelessness, low income, and displacement.

With 1 in 6 children in Victoria living in poverty, many families are making heartbreaking choices every day, just to provide the basics for their children. In the past year, the organisation has supported more than 8,000 children through donated goods distributed by 400 volunteers via a trusted referral network. Unfortunately, increasing demand and shortages of essential items mean only 49% of family requests can currently be fully met.

The $15,300 donation from the Lyone Foundation will support the purchase of essential items such as infant formula, wellbeing packs, bassinets, toiletries, stationery supplies and more. This will help Big Group Hug continue supporting those in need and addressing family requests.
